Hi there! I’m Sophie. In this little nook of the interwebs you will find mostly recipes that incorporate sourdough and sourdough discard, as I am a true baker at heart. You’ll also sometimes see vegetarian savory recipes.
I’m a thirty-something baker from Northern California who just loves food. I grew up in the kitchen, baking away with my mom and my two older sisters. Some of my fondest memories of my childhood center around fiddling about with our favorite family recipes. On the weekends you can find me sipping English Breakfast tea, cuddling with my cats Jonah and Rye, and experimenting in the kitchen.
After getting my undergraduate degree from Humboldt State University, I went to culinary school and completed a certificate in baking & pastry. I then worked in the baking industry in various situations for many years to gain experience.
I also completed a Masters in Food Studies program at Chatham University in the Fall of 2021 to continue my career in food. I focused on fermentation and wrote my thesis as a cookbook on baking with sourdough. I am interested in pursuing recipe development, recipe testing, food writing, and food photography.
