Nutella Crème Brûlée and Chocolate Dipped Raspberries for Two

February 10, 2013 by Sophie 10 Comments

First off: Nom. (Nutella…)

Okay, so…Creme brulee is probably one of my favorite things to bake. It’s versatile (sooo many flavor options), fairly simple once you’ve done it a few times, and SO MUCH FUN to torch before serving.

It has become a bit of a tradition for me to make my boyfriend, Nevin, creme brulee for special occasions (birthdays, anniversaries, Valentine’s etc). I have tried making a different flavor each round that I make it. A couple years ago I had made Nutella creme brulee for a Valentine’s Day, and it turned out amaaazingly.

When I found out that this month’s Chocolate Party was double chocolate, I immediately thought of doing it again, with some kind of chocolate dipped fruit on top. Because I am in Spain, I can’t make the usual treat for Nev, so I’m dedicating this post to him (since we won’t be able to have a dinner/dessert date in person)! We will be travelling Italy together for two weeks at the end of this semester, so that’ll be our celebration! This recipe is peeerfect for Valentine’s because it only makes 2 ramekins! Whenever I’ve made it in the past, I haven’t worried about making a full recipe because I’d just give away the extras! But I thought it’d be fun to do a mini-version for anyone who wants to make a nice dessert without having a ton left over for Valentine’s.

So here we go…I’ve posted the process pictures to my flickr for simplicity!
(too many pictures for one post). Click here to see the full photo set of how I made these! And click the <pic> links for particular ones.

Here’s what you’ll need:

What to do:

I was really excited about this set up: <pic>

About an hour before serving (so chocolate can firm up): <pic>

And for torching: <pic>

And there you go! Seriously delicious dessert that you can make a day before a date and then serve super easily! I’m sure my boyfriend probably always knows that it’ll be coming, but I still like to pretend that it’s a surprise. Once he hears the torch flame, it’s pretty obvious! 😉

So Happy (early) Valentine’s Day to Nev! I love you! 😀

Typical goons!

I have great memories of eating my first creme brulee, and nutella certainly is a great addition to it! Bruleeing is definitely the best part!

I absolutely love creme brûlée, I ALWAYS order it for dessert. I have a torch that I received for my birthday almost 3 years ago that I have yet to use! Shame on me! 🙁
